The Morning Tea- PR

Good morning, welcome to another wonderful and energetic day. Russia develops the world’s first coronavirus vaccine and President Putin reported that his own daughter has been vaccinated. PM Modi had a meeting with the Chief Ministers of States over Corona.

In the dark, and uncertain clouds of Corona, TMT aims at bringing you the “Best Insights, Not Ordinary Disclosures!!!”

Here is a quote from Anthony Robbins to start your day

It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.

🎖 MIND MONK

Observe your feelings. Focus on the raw sensations. You don’t want to identify with the feelings you just want to sense what’s going on. The feelings are not you.

Neuroscientists talk about the power of labeling feelings. Giving it a name isolates it and reduces its power. It gets your amygdala to chill and engages your prefrontal cortex to curtail the emotion.

Let it be. You cannot kill it or suppress it. And if that’s what you find yourself trying to do, none of this will work. You must accept it. You must let this feeling be.

Expand your attention so that its relative importance shrinks. Don’t wait for some greater problem to supersede it. Distraction does not help. But bringing other feelings into the light gives you perspective and pulls you out of the “sunken place”.

💰 MARKETS

Markets: Nifty closed above the 11,300 level on Tuesday. Indian market is taking cues from the favorable global conditions however remaining cautious of the current economic scenario. US stocks rise as the bet on the stimulus package rises. Gold prices fell for a second day. Russia releasing the first COVID-19 vaccine is expected to raise hopes of the markets. European stocks also rise as the auto and travel shares surge.

📱 TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION

🇮🇳  WHAT ELSE IS COOKING

🕴BUSINESS LOUNGE

Enter Edtech

A net promoter score of 68 percent, student renewal rate of over 75 percent, and a refund rate of under three percent. When it comes to edtech or consumer internet companies, these numbers are mind-boggling. And yet this is what the trackers are showing in the White Hat Jr command center.

As the CEO of Discovery in South East Asia, Karan Bajaj had his hands full. So too at home, as he would return to be greeted by his two young daughters. Reading MIT research papers he found out that kids who code start to think of life as a playground for experimentation and creation.

White Hat Jr began to bring this idea to fruition. It was personal for Bajaj and he ventured out full time, leaving his corporate clothes in the wardrobe for the foreseeable future. The founding team comprises of three engineers, three curriculum creators, and one graphic designer.

With a structured Artificial Intelligence curriculum, kids use the fundamentals of logic-command and algorithms to make industry-grade animations, games, and apps. The roadmap ahead lays emphasis on IoT, Quantum Computing, and Lifetech

White Hat Jr grew to 40k paying monthly users in 16 months. Their average ticket size is Rs 37,000 and the ARR for July is $140 million. With such numbers already and high ARR multiples being the norm in edtech, the acquisition of White Hat Jr by Byju’s for $300 million looks like a sweet deal after all.

Video Résumé

A video résumé is touted to be the future. It can be valuable if you’re applying to any job where the ability to perform is important—whether it be acting, giving presentations, or teaching. This is pertinent to any position that requires you to leverage your interpersonal skills or speak publicly.

Another benefit of using a video résumé is that it conveys your personality in a way that no written résumé can. This gives you an advantage if you’re applying to jobs where excellent communication skills or adept interpersonal skills are necessary, such as in client-facing roles.

A few things that you must keep in mind while making your video resume are:-

  • Tell a story – you are making a video and if it’s a point by point enumeration of your CV, then it defeats the purpose. Say something about yourself that’s not on your CV.
  • Tailor it for the company – Tell things that excite you about the job you’re applying for, what your first impressions were about this company, why do you think you could excel here.
  • Be professional – take care of the sound and video quality. Ensure that you’re well-groomed, the background is clean and there are no cobwebs in the background, the editing is crisp. Take help in production if you can.
